Eileen Morrissey Obituary
Des Moines
Eileen M. Morrissey, 87, passed away at home January 23,2017 after a long struggle with dementia. Eileen was born on May 19, 1929 in Sumner, Iowa to Michael and Clara Rochford. She graduated from Brandon High School and Briar Cliff College. Her first teaching job was a one room school house in Buchanan County.
She met and married Bob Morrissey in 1953 and they had seven children together. They worked alongside each other for 30 years at Morrissey Fine Jewelry, in Valley Junction.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Bob, of 63 years and their seven children, Vince and Lorraine (Sweeney), Pat and Cathy (Mosley), Dave and Denise (Thorne), Jean and Tom Lyle, Dan Morrissey, Karen and Jerry Romine, and Kevin and Laura (Willis); ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Clara, brothers Joe and Ben, nephews Fr. Gene and Mickey, and granddaughter Rachel Romine.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, January 26th, 4-7 pm at Iles Westover Chapel with a rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Urbandale, Iowa. A private burial will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Society of the Divine Word, Techny IL., which was special to her deceased nephew, Fr. Gene Rochford, or to a charity of your choice.
