Stephen Hewitt Obituary
Stephen was born in Des Moines on January 27, 1947, the son of Robert P. and Patricia (McAvoy) Hewitt. He received his education in Des Moines, graduating from North High School before attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.
Stephen worked in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma from 1976 to 1981 and served as President of the Oklahoma Petroleum Inc. He later returned to Des Moines, where he owned and operated Auto Pawn for a time.
He had a lifelong love of cars, especially 1960s muscle cars, and was particularly proud of the 1966 GTO he owned. He enjoyed attending local car shows and making yearly trips to the Clear Lake Car Show.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kevin, in 2004.
Stephen is survived by his sons, Chris Hewitt of Waukee, Iowa, and Steven (Heather) Hewitt of Grimes, Iowa; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Teri Hawes of Plano, Texas.
Burial will be held at a later date.
