Eldon Lee Layton, 84, passed away at Mercy Hospital Medical Center on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. A visitation to celebrate Eldon's life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
No funeral service, a family burial service will be held at a later date.
Eldon was born July 19, 1925 in Des Moines to Bessie and William Layton. He served in the United State Marines. Eldon worked as a Truck driver for Super valu Warehouse. He loved being with his family. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping and his two dogs.
Eldon is survived by his children, Debbie (Marvin) Solum, Dee (Barbara) Layton and Don (Debbie) Layton; Tracie (Feight) Wilson, a daughter by friendship; his eight grandchildren, Todd, Troy, Travis, Chad Layton, Chrisi Fajardo, Cheri Larkin, Tyler Solum and Diana Weilder; his great-grandchildren, Alec and Drew Layton, Lucas Layton, Dustin Fajardo and Heather Weilder
