Erika Sheldahl Obituary
St. Petersburg, FL
Erika Joy Sheldahl passed unexpectedly from this life on April 20, 2015, at home in St. Petersburg, Florida. A service will be held Saturday, May 2, at St. James Lutheran Church in Johnston, Iowa. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a service commencing at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Erika was born on January 25, 1985, to Robert and Melanie Sheldahl in Des Moines and graduated from Johnston High School in 2003. She attended DMACC and began her career at Wells Fargo. She held several positions at Wells Fargo in Des Moines and Florida before taking a position at Stewart Title in St. Petersburg.
Most importantly, Erika loved her wide circle of friends and family and her beloved dog Bella. She brought great joy to all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile and kind heart. Travel was one of her passions as was music, movies and causing people to smile. She and her father shared the love for music and had many father/daughter concert date nights. She also loved her life in St. Petersburg and many friends and acquaintances there have lost a bright star.
She is survived by her father, Robert Sheldahl of Silver Springs, Florida, grandmother, Joy Mueller of Des Moines, aunts, uncles, cousins and many family, friends and Bella. She was preceded in death by her mother, Melanie Sheldahl, whom Erika loved very much, and several grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Coexist in St. Petersburg or St. James Lutheran Church in Johnston.

Dear Erika, I am so sorry. You are such a wonderful soul. I truly enjoyed every moment we spent together. I remember the time you, your Father, and I walked across the street from your apartment and hung out at the concert, and had such a great time. I miss you so very much. Since she was born, Erika has had a special place in our family and in our hearts. Such an amazing young woman she became. I just can't believe I won't see her in Des Moines, or in Atlanta at her second home. There are no words, Bob. Grieving with you. Loving and missing both Erika and Melanie now.

We grew up together in our Iowa cul-de-sac. Between her and Michelle C., I always saw a friend around. Most importantly, I had the privilege of watching Erika turn into an amazing young woman.

I don't think any of us can understand nor comprehend the loss of Erika and her sudden death.....however, we all loved her and she loved each of us. I worked with Erica at Wells Fargo in Florida. We stayed in touch after we both left, she would text me, and keep me up to date on what she was doing. She told me many stories about her family, and it was clear that she loved them very much. She will be missed and we have lost a shining star.
