Ethan James Nelson, 4, was born May 27, 2009, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Dan and Shannon. He passed away Thursday April 24, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Ethan enjoyed music, going to school, being with his friends and family, playing and being read to.
Ethan is survived by dad and mom, Dan and Shannon; little brother, Xander; paternal grandparents, Jim (Deb) Nelson and Carolyn Nelson; maternal grandmother, Connie Richardson; paternal great grandparents, Paul (JoAnn) Nelson and Caroline (Hank) Garner; maternal great grandmother, Phyllis Kay Clifford; aunts, Dana (Eric) Snyder and Jherica Richardson; cousins, Megan and Kyle; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
Ethan is preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, Elton and Jodene Brown; maternal great grandfather, Casey Richardson; uncle, Adam Richardson; and little brother, Henry Paul Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. The family will greet friends Monday, April 28, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of books and toys that will be distributed to local children's hospitals and rehabilitation facilities or a monetary contribution that will be used for a memorial garden and tree planting.
