Etta Maricia (Garrison) Avitt, 53, passed away at home on Monday, September 2, 2013. Etta was born on January 11, 1960 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Harry L. and Charlotte Lavonne Garrison.
Etta was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, decorating and especially her family.
Etta is survived by her son, John (Cindy) Avitt of Grinnell, Iowa and daughter, Amanda (Eric) Mulhern of Des Moines and 9 grandchildren, Kailey, Kloey, Kalen, Kylie, Kayne, Josie, Cassie, Kyra, and Kelsey. Etta is also survived by her mother, Charlotte Lavonne Garrison, three brothers Dwayne Garrison, Raymond Garrison and Harry Garrison, Jr. all of Des Moines and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Etta will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry A. Avitt, an infant son, Patrick, her father, Harry L. Garrison, Sr. and brother, Phillip L. Garrison.
Visitation services will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Friday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m.
