Frederick Coffin Obituary
Urbandale - Frederick Howard Coffin, died January 4, 2021 at the age of 73. Visitation will be held from 1-3pm, Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Iles Westover Chapel. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Fred was born November 15, 1947 in Des Moines to Howard and Kathryn (Anderson) Coffin. He graduated from Dowling High School and attended United Electronics trade school. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1967-1973. He was a third generation electrical contractor. He operated the family business, Coffin Electric.
Fred enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, traveling with his wife, Kathy, spending time with his family and volunteering with the Urbandale Food Bank and Connection Café.
Fred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy (Lord) Coffin; his children, Courtney Sharp, Chad Coffin (John Jordan) and Chris (Christie) Coffin; four grandchildren, Nick (Emily) Sharp, Beth (Derek) Murken, Chloe Coffin and Isabelle Coffin; four great grandchildren; siblings, Myrna Vatnsdal and Margaret Russell, as well as several nieces, nephews and their families.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Urbandale Food Pantry in memory of Fred.
