GERALD "JERRY" ARTHUR NOSBISH
Cedar Rapids
Gerald "Jerry" Arthur Nosbish, 86 of the Woodlands at Methwick died there Sunday, September 13, 2009, following a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by Fr. Phil Thompson. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. A vigil service will be held today at 5 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home where friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Military services provided by VFW Post #788.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Alice; five children, Mary Kay (Leon) Schnack of Fort Orange, FL, Debbie (Scott) Bradley of Cambridge, MN, Jerry (Pat) Nosbish of Olathe, KS, Dan (Cathy) Nosbish of Cedar Rapids and Suzie Otterbeck of Naples, FL; brother, Leon (Nelson) Nosbish; sister, Maureen Haberman; ten grandchildren, Derek (Jessica) Schnack, Andrew (Natasha) Schnack, Jeff Recker, Daron and Benjamin Bradley, Sarah and Colleen Nosbish, Charlie, Margaret and Katie Otterbeck and four great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife Jean and his parents.
Jerry was born July 11, 1923, in Alta Vista, Iowa the son of Nicholas and Susan Hentges Nosbisch. He married Jean McAvoy in 1945. She died in 1979.
Jerry served in the US Navy during WWII. He owned and operated Carriage Cleaners on Edgewood Road in Cedar Rapids. Jerry married Alice Miller in 1988. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Jerry was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Jerry's family would like to express their appreciation for the caring support provided by the staff at Methwick.
