Howard Pulse Obituary
Winterset - Howard Pulse, 82, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his home.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset where family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola with a visitation one hour prior, beginning at 9:30 a.m. A private burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Iowa and online condolences can be left at ochiltree.com.
Howard Leslie Pulse was born May 11, 1936, in Belvidere, South Dakota, the son of James and Lillian (Herout) Pulse. He graduated from Schaller High School in 1954 and was united in marriage to Jo Ann Schoening on June 2, 1957, in Galva, Iowa. He was employed with American Republic Insurance for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Pulse of Winterset; sons, Jeffrey (Sara) Pulse of Fort Wayne, IN and James (Stephanie) Pulse of Pleasantville; daughters, Julie (Lonn) Maly of Woodbury, MN and Jeri (Rod) Simon of Winterset; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Beck of Fremont, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mavis (Leonard) Popp and infant sisters, Anita and Phyllis Pulse; and a brother-in-law, Herb Beck.

May my Aunt Jo Ann, cousins Jeffery, Julie, Jeri, and Jim be blessed with the assurance and peace of the promises our loving Father, Abba, has provided in the atonement and salvation of our Messiah, His Son, Jesus, Yeshua. My Uncle Howard was a living example of his faith by loving his beloved wife Jo Ann for 61 years and raising their children in the faith, he was a servant of his community and his character and integrity stood out as real. We will all miss you dear beloved uncle, but your humor, guidance, and love will always be a reminder in our hearts. I could not be there this AM due Lynne's broken leg so my heart and spirit are connected to yours at this time.
