Jeffrey D. Christensen, 35, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015.
Jeff was born on April 22, 1980 in Des Moines, IA to Mike and Sally Christensen. He resided in Des Moines for most of his life, and had also lived in Colorado, California and Nevada.
Jeff will be remembered for his kind heart, his easy going nature, and his music. Jeff loved music. It was a big part of his life from very early on. If he wasn't listening to music, he was at a concert, or playing his guitar. He enjoyed spending time with his friends talking, reminiscing, and making new memories.
Jeff was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Svend and Elly Christensen, and his maternal grandparents Sylvester and Frances Holm. He is survived by his parents Mike and Sally, his son Oliver Christensen, his sister Amy Christensen Lee, brother-in-law Elbert Lee and nephew Ryker Lee.
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Urbandale Walker Johnson Park Shelter from 5:30 pm-10:00 pm. Please join us in remembering Jeff in the way he would find most fitting; with friends, family, food and of course music. Bring your playlists and your instruments, and let's have one more jam session.

It never gets easier Jeffy. You were a one of a kind. The only human I have ever met that reminds me of you is your Oliver. Every time he speaks, there you are. Every time he pokes fun at me, there you are. Every look he gives me, yep, there you are. I couldn't ask for a better son. And whenever he is unsure of his memories of you, whenever he thinks he is forgetting, I let him know this: whenever he is looking to know you better he needn't look much further than himself. How I wish he got the time he deserved with you but, you seriously come to us when we need you most. All those songs you tune into while we are driving down the road? Don't think I don't know that's you. It's you reminding me of your 1000% unique personality and style and taste and opinions. You were a man like no other and so far, I am blessed to be raising your mini-me. I would gladly lay down and die for him to have you back but I know that is an impossibility. I know no matter how painful the loss of you will always be, this is for some awful reason the way it is supposed to be. It certainly doesn't seem right. But I also know that even though you and I have never been religious, we were always very spiritual. These last 5 years have only proved that we are on the right path in our beliefs. Life does go on after this life and in the next one, I know we will all be together and it will feel like coming home from a very long trip. Please say hi to Dave, Josh, and of course Allison. Merry Christmas Jeffy. This was always your favorite holiday and we do well to make it joyful in your name each year. Love you!

I can't believe it's been 4 yrs...I was just telling my girlfriend about you just two days ago (Sunday) as I pulled out the coffee cup I got in Vegas on our way to California...I drink my coffee every Sunday with you my friend and I will never forget you and all the good times we had !! I miss you dearly my friend may you rest in peace.

I remember when I met you in 1990. We played ice hockey together. You soon thereafter took guitar lessons from my father on Ashworth Road. I remember in '93 when the massive ice storm hit and when everyone decided to stay indoors where it was safe, you...naturally, came to your lesson because you cared that much about music; you knew what it was worth. There was some years when we lost touch after high school, but when our paths met again you remembered me and welcomed me into your life and we loved talking music together, again. You will not be forgotten. from my family to yours...all our love Jeff.

You were always a great friend!! I remember when I met you. It was late at night back in 1999. You were walking down the street. I asked you if you needed a ride. We went to your place on Euclid ave. I met Jeff last summer in Valley Junction. After pizza at the Tavern, he proudly walked us to a garden area to show us his dad's sculptures. Allison just beamed when she was with him. I was so saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. I have many fond memories from my teenage years with Jeff. Jeff was my first love. We dated for several years in high school. I'll never forget Sally catching me sleep in Jeff's closet because I didn't want to walk home in 5° weather (and that I wanted to be as close to Jeff as possible 24/7)! When I did walk home, Jeff would give me Grateful Dead bootleg tapes to listen to along the way. He turned me on to the Grateful Dead and Phish which, in turn, shaped my life for the next 15 years. Jeff was also a master at foosball...a little known secret. My condolences to Jeff's family. Thanks for all the good times Jeff. We love you.

Just like before, I still can't do this alone. Oliver needs to know you are there for him, watching him and guiding him toward all things good. I'm so glad you were happy when you died.
