Jonathan Hintz Obituary
Coralville/Ubandale
Jonathan "Jon" Allen Hintz passed away the evening of March 23, 2012, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Iowa City; he was 28 years old. Jon was born in Des Moines on October 29, 1983 and was the youngest son of Mary and Ron Hintz.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel in Des Moines. All friends and family are invited to services celebrating Jon's life at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale on Wednesday, March 28, at 11a.m.
Jon grew up in Urbandale and graduated from high school in 2002. He continued his education at the University of Iowa, obtaining his bachelor's degree in business administration. A devoted Hawkeye fan, Jon continued to reside in the Iowa City area working with a great group of people at Geico. Most recently he achieved the Chairman's Club Award for outstanding auto insurance sales in 2011.
Jon loved all sports participating in soccer, football, wrestling, snow-boarding, rock climbing and biking. He liked to hunt and loved to fish. Jon claimed the family "Big Walleye" Award in 2007 with a 7 ½ lb walleye proudly displayed at the family cabin.
Jon had a unique quality of bringing humor to any situation. He loved God and showed it by passing on good cheer to others. His spirit and gusto for living will remain in our hearts forever.
Jon was preceded in death by grandparents, Kathryn and Wayne Wishart, grandfather, Roger Hintz and uncle, Gary Hintz.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Mary and Ron Hintz, brother, David Hintz, grandmother, Doris Hintz, all from Urbandale, along with cousin (who was like a brother), Aaron Hintz of Ames, aunts and uncles, Rick Hintz of Chanhassen, MN, John (Kathy) Wishart of Monument, CO, Jim Wishart of Colorado Springs, CO, Jane (Bill) Kennedy of Dover, NH, and Bob (Joan) Wishart of Omaha; along with many more cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jon's name to Hidden Acres Christian Center, 3837 Union Ave., Dayton, Iowa 50530.

I was one of Jon's co-workers at GEICO. I was so sad to learn of his passing. Jon was an assett to GEICO as a hard working and productive employee, and as a friend. Jon was always quick to say hello, and always had a smile on his face. I pray that his friends and family will heal from this very hard blow and be left with treasured memories of Jon.

Ron and Mary, Smitty and I were so heartbroken to hear about Jon. We loved his smile, great since of humor and always loved watching him defending the soccer goal. I still remember going to dinner at Rosters Roast in Phoenix when he was disappointed that they were out of Rattlesnake that evening. I met Jon in October 2010 after I had just started dating his good friend Shawn Kalina. We had drove up to Iowa City to pick up Jon to celebrate his birthday, on our drive Shawn told me of Jon and how great he was. After meeting him I could see how anyone would like Jon. He was always friendly and had something funny to say. I was with him the friday before he passed for Shawn and Corey sister Kristen's 21st birthday party. We had took a bus all around small towns and had a lot of fun. While it is hard to realize Jon is no longer here to see, I am grateful for the times we did have with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his parents and family during your time of loss. Jon was a great man and will be greatly missed.
