JOYCE G. VOS VAN GORP

Joyce G. Vos Van Gorp, daughter of Peter H. and Hattie Van Veen Vos passed away on Saturday morning, August 22, 2009 at the Comfort House of Pella.
Joyce grew up on a farm near Otley, Iowa, and attended country school and the Pella Community High School.
On August 12, 1947, Joyce and Donald J. Van Gorp were united in marriage. To this union two sons were born, Dennis Jay and Douglas Lee.
Joyce worked in insurance for several years; first at Van Gorp Insurance in Pella, then at Holmes Murphy and Associates in Des Moines. She retired as an Associate at Merle Hay Younkers in 2007. Joyce enjoyed her playing in bridge and pitch groups and her golf outings earlier in life. She was a member of Third Reformed Church of Pella.
Joyce is survived by her two sons: Dennis and Nadia Van Gorp of Pella, and Douglas and Colleen Van Gorp of Clive, Iowa; her grandchildren: Marc and Mandy Van Gorp of Kansas City, Missouri; Ali and Trey Ondrus of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Brent and Sydney Van Gorp of Long Island City, New York; Tim and Lauri Van Gorp of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; Rusty Van Gorp of Chicago, Illinois; Molly, Macy, and Madison Van Gorp of Clive, Iowa; three great-grandchildren; sister Johnita and the late Myron Van Wyk of Pella; brother Paul (Lillian) Vos of Zapata, Texas; special friends Cindy Schuring of Pella and Diane Van Gorp of Urbandale, Iowa; and many other friends and family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Myron Van Wyk.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 4 p.m. at Third Reformed Church in Pella. Visitation will be at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home at Noon Wednesday, with family present 5 to 7 p.m.
