Larry L. Davis, age 69, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009.
He was born March 9, 1940 in Princeton, MO, to Kathryn (Swan) and Neal Davis. He spent his childhood in Princeton and after graduation from Princeton High School, he moved to Des Moines where he worked a variety of jobs including HyVee, Gus Glaser Meats, and Automatique (Ambassador Foods) before retiring in 2002.
Larry enjoyed a very active life and was known to be a guy who could buy or sell anything. He loved to work in the yard at his lake home, enjoyed boating and being on the water, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed going to auctions and swap meets. He was a very talented craftsman who could build anything he set his mind to, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Larry was a kind, tender-hearted man who touched the lives of many people and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Ginny of Urbandale; his son Brian and future daughter-in-law, Cathy Cook of Panora, IA; his daughter, Tammy (David) Oliver of Truro, IA; his daughter, Cindy Davis of Des Moines, IA; step- daughter, Leilani Shaw of Redfield, IA; sister, Karen (Gordon) Swan, and step-father, Roy Brown both of Kansas City MO; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents,
A memorial service will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 9 at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made to www.caldwellraddatz.com.
