Margaret Mains, 75, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Margaret was born January 8, 1934, in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Clifford and Elizabeth (Howells) Ott. She was raised in Oskaloosa and lived most of her life in West Des Moines. Margaret worked for Iowa Power for over 30 years. She was a member of West Des Moines Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, was President of the West Des Moines Women's Club and a volunteer for the Animal Rescue League.
Margaret is survived by her son, Doug Mains of West Des Moines; a brother, James Ott of Cedar Rapids, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Mains; her parents; sister, Mary Rose Davenport; brother, Irvin Ott and sister-in-law, Geraldine Ott.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday prior to the service at McLaren's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League, West Des Moines Women's Club or West Des Moines Christian Church.
