Mark Steven Behmer, 59, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines. Visitation will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Grandview Park Funeral Home.

Mark is survived by his father, Jack (Kay) of Urbandale; sister, Jane of Saydel; daughters, Kimberly (Tony) of Grimes and Jennifer of Polk City; sons, Daniel and Jonathan of Polk City; grandchildren, Owen, James, and Bode; and the mother of his children, Nancy. Mark was born in Omaha, NE and grew up in Atlantic and Ventura, Iowa with numerous visits to his grandma's farm in Ute. He graduated from Ventura High School, where he enjoyed playing football, basketball, track, and golf. He continued his education at Buena Vista College where he played football. He had a passion for science and carpentry. Following his brother to Houston, Texas, he began his lifelong career as a carpenter, building and remodeling residential homes. After a few years, he returned to Iowa and made Ankeny his home. He later moved to Sheldahl.

Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, watching TV, and being with family and friends. But most of all he greatly enjoyed attending his kids and grandchild's sporting and music events. He will forever be missed by his Family.

Mark was a good man. When I was in a jam and stuck in Iowa tring to get back to north Dakota for work he asked me if I wanted to work. He saved my job. He had a heart of gold. Sorry to hear about this tragedy. Fly with the angels mark. Thanks for everything.
