Marlene Fresco Obituary
Des Moies
Marlene A. Fresco, 65, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Genesis Senior Living in Des Moines, Iowa.
Marlene was born January 4, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa to Bruno and Julia (Orlando) Fresco. She was a resident of the Des Moines area her entire life. Marlene earned her bachelor's degree from Simpson College and her Master's degree in education from Drake University. She taught special education throughout the Des Moines school district until her retirement in 2006. Teaching brought her great joy. Marlene was a parishioner at Christ the King and St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a member of Tri-T and Red Hat Society and loved her family, friends, and her dog, Penny.
She is survived by her uncle, Dante Fresco; aunts, Anita (Ron) Gray and Mary (Pat) O'Brien; and many loving cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hamilton's Southtown, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Early ACCESS Program for the Des Moines Public Schools in remembrance of Marlene.

Marlene and I were close friends when we both volunteered at the Des Moines Community Playhouse. We had lost touch over the years and I am saddened to hear of her passing. She was a good friend and a good person.

Marlene was my niece, She was a wonderful teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools and a wonderful daughter to her Mother, Julia. She is now reunited with her with her parents, Julia and Bruno Fresco.
