Marvin Hammernick Obituary
Des Moines
Marvin Hammernick, Sr., 77, died Friday, August 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home, being taken care of by his wife, Dee of 52 years, and his son, Marvin Jr.
Marvin Sr. was born, raised and lived his entire life in Iowa. He retired from Qwest in 1990 after more than 20 years of service. Marvin was an avid Hawkeye fan. His fondest memories were spending summers camping and fishing with his wife and kids at Spirit Lake.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Delane Hammernick; 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. He will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Marvin.
