Michael Miller Obituary

Michael Miller

Des Moines

Michael Allan Miller was born January 5, 1950 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Allan and Marjorie Miller. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy and served two tours during the Vietnam War. Miller retired from the Veteran's Hospital as a boiler supervisor. He was awarded the Quilt of Valor earlier this year in recognition of his service. He enjoyed his Harley and antique cars. Miller also liked NASCAR and Da Bears.

Miller passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2016, as a result of exposure to Agent Orange during his service. There will be a Celebration of Life at Kung Fu Tap and Taco on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 1-5 p.m.

Miller is survived by his brother, Tony (Jolene); nephews, C.J. (Cassie) and David (Lydia); great nephew, Wade; great-niece, Jaycie; aunt, Diane; cousins: Scott, Darwin, and Shannon; ex-wife, Marna; and neighbors and close friends: Mike, John, Dave, Joe and Sally. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Terry.

Thank you to the caring staff at the VA, VA ER, HCI Hospice, hospice extended care, and Angels in the Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the ARL.

Mike and I go back over 50 years. A true friend. Always upbeat even on the dark days. If he was your friend you knew he had your back. A proud Veteran and a proud V.A. man. Wished I could have seen him one more time. RIP my friend, you did it your way.
