Nancy Applegate Obituary
Ankeny - Nancy Applegate, 79, passed away from heart and kidney failure on August 16, 2020 at her home in Ankeny, Iowa. She was born April 2, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Harry and Ethelyn (Smith) Copeland. Nancy was a graduate of Waukee High School in 1958. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends. She worked at TMC Transportation Company for 35 years.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Valerie (Clark) Petersen and Leslie (Bill) Boettcher; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Applegate; and brother, Dick (Donna) Copeland.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10-12 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). We kindly ask that all visitors please wear masks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue or John Stoddard Cancer Center.

Chuck and I are so sorry to hear about Nancy. She was such a sweet lady. I always enjoyed our visits. Chuck and I have several fond memories of Davey and Nancy when they lived here in Winterset. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you ♥

I have such wonderful memories of Nancy. She was my boss for a while at TMC, but she turned into a good friend. I would run into her all the time in Des Moines and Waukee and we would talk about her family and mine. She will be truly missed. She was a classy Lady. Rest in peace dear friend. Love Betsy Ray

So sorry to hear about Nancy. She was such a warm and caring friend. And she was a wonderful sister to Janet. I have so many memories of our years at Waukee Consolidated School (as it was called back in the day). We had many slumber parties and lots of after-school fun. Janet, you were blessed to have such a special twin! May God comfort the whole family in this time of grieving!
