Ruth Nadine Goldsberry, 89, passed away, Tuesday, October 1, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, at Minburn United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow services and private burial of the cremated remains will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn.

Ruth was born June 17, 1925, in Minburn, to Mahlon Lawerence and Alma Mae (Thompson) Gottschalk. She graduated in 1942 from Minburn High School and married Harold Goldsberry in 1943. They made their home on the family farm east of Minburn where they raised their two children. Ruth was a farm wife who enjoyed baking bread, gardening and riding horses. She gave painting lessons for 40 years in her home until "retiring" in 2010. Ruth and Harold were both 4-H leaders and members of the Minburn United Methodist Church where they started an adult Sunday School class that is still meeting today.

Ruth is survived her daughter, Kathren (David) Hornocker of Hiawatha, IA, her sister, Viola King of Trenton, MO, her grandchildren, Amy (Sonny) Calvetti, Cassie (Shawn) Lincoln, and Jill (Aaron) Bryne; and three great grandsons, Anthony, Jay and Zayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Clyde Goldsberry and her granddaughter, Marilyn Gibbons.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Minburn United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minburn United Methodist Church Music Department. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
