Shirley Brooks Hanlin, 79, was born September 10, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to Dave and Ethel Brooks. She was a member of Lee Town Assembly and retired from Fawn Engineering as a welder. Shirley passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children, Don (Sue) Hanlin, Patty (Toby) Jessen and David Hanlin, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her soul mate, Glenda Lee McFarland in 2011, her parents and her brothers and sisters.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Lee Town Assembly Church, 2720 State Avenue, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Lee Town Assembly. The family wishes to extended heart-felt thanks to Bob and Dixie Potter for all their love and care. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
