Clive, IA
Steve Gibbons, at age 71, passed away on November 7, 2016. He was born on January 21, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Elsie Gibbons. His life-long career in and passion for radio started at the time of graduating in 1962 from North High School where he is a member of their Hall of Fame. As the ever popular morning drive-time disc jockey, he worked in Minneapolis, San Antonio and Denver; his heart was always in Des Moines where he returned to KRNT in 1978.
Steve loved to travel on many cruises with his wife Sheryl and his faithful KRNT listeners and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sheryl; his daughter, Jill (Aaron) Byrne of Cedar Rapids, IA; his step-son, Mike (Stephanie) Vesey of Indianola, IA; his step-daughter, Kristen (Aaron) Petty of Ankeny, IA; his sister-in-law, Teresa Woodford of West Des Moines, IA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Gibbons; mother, Elsie Huffman; and his daughter, Marilyn Gibbons.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 5-7 pm, and the funeral will be Friday, November 11 at 2:00 pm, Dunn's Funeral Home, Des Moines. All are welcome to attend these services and celebrate Steve's life. Burial will occur in a private ceremony at a later date.

So sad to hear this news. Steve and I worked together at KRNT/KCCI years ago and he was a fun co-worker and a good friend as well. My thoughts are with his family. Stevie Wooten.
