Thomas Leavengood Obituary
Melcher-Dallas
Funeral services for Thomas G. Leavengood Jr. 78, will be Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Tom's honor to the Melcher-Dallas Rescue Unit.
Tom worked at John Deere in Ankeny for 42 years retiring Dec. 31, 1998. He belonged to the UAW Local 450. Tom enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sprint car races, being on the fair board, and the lawn mower shop.
Tom passed away November 3, 2015 at the Comfort House Hospice in Pella. Preceding him in death were his parents: Thomas and Geraldine; and a brother Kenneth. Surviving are his children: Jayne (Dennis) Roozeboom of Tracy, Thomas R. "Rick" (LuAnn) Leavengood of Knoxville, Lori Gotta of Pella, and Angie (Jeff) Borrill of Ames; 10 grandchildren: Johanna (Chad) Hummel, Luke Roozeboom, Miles Leavengood, Megan (Eric) Wilcutt, Tyler (Jessica) Leavengood, Jeremy (Jessica) Dittmer, Amber Dittmer, Alissa (Jeff) Gotta, Ashley (Jon) Reader, and Kaleb (Kelsie) Wills; 9 great grandchildren: Jaydon Hummel, Lexington Hummel, Reagan Swanson, Rayden Leavengood, Riley Wilcutt, Brooklyn Hoch, Braelyn Ensor, Maddox Houser, Taryn Streck, and baby Reader on the way. Also surviving are his brothers: Don Leavengood of Mission, TX and Bill (Linda) Leavengood of Knoxville; along with nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
