PFC Zachary Joseph Walz passed on Sunday April 14, 2013. Zachary is survived by his parents Dale and Kristene Walz, siblings Pamela, Stephanie, Jacob, and his fiance Sebrina. A wake service will be held at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home & Crematory (8201 Hickman Road) to memorialize Zachary from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday April 17. Military Burial Service will follow on Thursday.

Its been a year since you grew wings and flew to heaven. This year has not been easy for me or any of us that you left here, but I know that your are watching over all of us and making sure we don't get into to much trouble and that we all take care of each other. I miss you so much and I know that you are always looking out for me and guiding me to make sure that I do right by you. I know that in some way you lead me to Dani Botterbrodt because I have been happier than I have been in a long time and i remember that you always told me that you would help find someone for me and you have and I thank you. Jordan Werkmeister has been doing his best to lookout for me since your not here. I try to stay positive and keep everyone safe. I wish that you were here cause i miss fighting, wrestling, arguing, and just hanging out and playing video games for hours on end. I know your still around cause after I fell asleep last night and I woke up this morning exactly at 3:13 a.m.... I love you and I miss you so much my brother and I know your always there. The second our loved one took the oath to defend our country at any means possible . Putting their needs second above their own is a gold star person in it self to me. No material item or recognition or acknowledgement will ever replace the deep sorrow of hurt in my heart. The millisecond my child was conceived I became a mother . The moment my son took the oath to become a soldier he was a gigantic star to me. It was about 2 or 3 in the morning and Alyssa Ostrander, Zachary Walz, and I were driving around being goofy and Zach fell asleep in my back seat, boy was it hard to wake him up! He was always so fun to be around. Miss you zach.

I cant believe tomorrow will be one year that you have been gone. It seems like it was just yesterday i got the phone call. It seemed like yesterday we were still hanging out having fun. You were always there when i needed you the most. You always knew when i needed a pick me up. You were my best male friend, and that will never change. I always looked up to you and still to this day i do. You have showed me what kind of person to be. Im very thankful though that i got to meet your amazing family. I enjoy talking to your mom. She has gave me a lot of advice. So it seems as if im listening to you. You were always there when i need that. You never turned your back on me when i did wrong or when i was being stupid. Im glad that i got to know you. We had fun times. Never to this day would i be thinking about one person that matters to me would be gone. Your number is still in my phone. I wish i could just call it and you would answer on days where im really down. Zachary not a day has gone by that I haven't missed you or thought about you. Your are the greatest brother that I could've ever asked for. Yeah we fought a lot and got in fights but that's what brothers do. I went to drill this last weekend even though they excused me from it, but I know how much you and I had been looking forward to the air assault mission so I went for you. The mission didn't go quiet as planned but I know you we're there watching over us all. I love you Zachary and miss you so much and I hope The Lord is giving you an amazing 21st birthday party.
