ASPASIA METROPOULOS Obituary

Age 73, of Grosse Pointe Farms passed away on August 9, 2005 at Henry Ford Hospital. She was born in Athens, Greece the daughter of John and Evangeline Mazis. She received her MD degree from the University of Athens College of Medicine in 1955, and came to the United States in 1956 for post-graduate training in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine where she met and married her husband of 47 years, Dr. Efstathios G. Metropoulos, a native of Detroit, Michigan. They practiced medicine together for the next several decades in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Aspasia had multiple talents beyond medicine including a prolific love of oil painting having painted hundreds of masterful works over the years. She was an accomplished classical pianist and organist, spoke several languages, enjoyed traveling, and was drawn to all academic interests with a particular love of the classics. She was an avid yachter and hailed out of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club and Detroit Yacht Club and was very active with the Grosse Pointe Farms Boat Club. Most of all, she was an affectionate and caring wife and mother who spoiled her family with unbounded love. Aspasia is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Efstathios G. Metropoulos, and her three devoted sons, Dr. George, Professor John, and Dr. Peter Metropoulos. She was pre-deceased by her parents John and Evangeline Mazis and by her sister Elizabeth Mazi Tsatsaroni. The family is mourning privately. Condolences may be expressed by charitable contributions to your personal charities. The family asks that no flowers be sent.
