CARL WALKMASTER Obituary

"92 years Young" of East Tawas, formerly of Lincoln Park, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 10, 2005. Mr. Walkmaster graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1931, where he was a star athlete, lettering all four years in all four sports. He was the ultimate sports fan and one of the Detroit Tigers most faithful. He was a retired Lincoln Park Police chief. he joined the department in 1942 as a patrolman, was promoted to Sargent then to Lieutenant before retiring as chief in 1967. He and his wife Olive who preceded him in death in 2001, enjoyed many wonderful retirement years together at their home "Up North" and wintering in Mesa, Arizona. He was active and independent up to the time of his death. Carl was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and playing cards with the East Tawas seniors. He was a bit of a town character with his friendly manner and silly jokes. He is survived by son Carl R., daughter-in-law Jo Ann M., daughter Sandy Pizzo (the late Sam), step-daughter Doris Spurlock (Bill), special friend and companion Arzetta Betz, 10 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Bruce A., grandson Tony Walkmaster, and granddaughter Pamela K. Celuso (Pizzo). Cremation has already taken place, arrangement by Buresh and Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas City, MI. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
