FRANK GLABACH Obituary

GLABACH FRANK C. Age 96 of Southfield passed away Friday, October 5, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Ruth. Loving father of Dale Glabach and G. Frank (Cynthia) Glabach. Dear brother of Robert Glabach. Proud grandfather of Jason, Ryan, Kacey, Amber, Alexis, Alisa, and Ace. In addition to being a former judge, for over 40 years Mr. Glabach was a well-regarded attorney, the minister of Divine Science Church of Practical Christianity in Birmingham, the owner of the now closed "Glabach's" modern art store in Berkley (one of Aretha Franklin's favorite shops), an avid tennis player, and a songwriter par excellence. In the early 1950s, he won the "Songs for Sale" competition. At his appearance on this national TV show, Frank shook hands and chatted with its legendary host, Steve Allen (who created the concept of "talk show" by later becoming the first MC of "The Tonight Show"). Then continuing the show, Frank's award-winning song "Mandolins Played in My Heart" was sung by early Capital Records recording star Margaret Whiting before a full orchestra with mandolins. The family will receive friends Thursday 2-8 pm at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Rd., Berkley (2 Blks. W. of Woodward). Funeral service will be Friday 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Share your memories at www.sawyerfuller.com
