MARY BERZ Obituary

BERZ MARY JANE (NEE ASHTON) Age 80. Born December 31, 1928 passed away in the company of her family on Christmas Eve. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Milton H. Berz in December 2008. Loving mother of Jeffery (Lisa) Berz, and Donald Berz. Proud grandmother of Jennifer (Jason) Sawyer, Melissa (Japon) Brauning, Desir'ee Berz, Douglas Berz, Mari (Mario) Lakaj, Christine (Al) Boike, and Michael Boike. Dear great-grandmother of Abigail Sawyer. Beloved sister-in-law of Dondra Ashton, Julia Logan, Emily Berz, and Theodore Berz. Aunt of Lynn (Gary) Ellis and Dylan Ellis. Mary Jane had many friends and neighbors who she has become close with over the years. Mrs. Berz grew up in Detroit then moved to Birmingham where she and the Berz Family Operated the Berz Airport in Troy until the early 1970's. Mary Jane was a licensed Private Pilot who enjoyed flying as well as working at the airport. In 1972 the family moved to Utica and operated the Berz Macomb Airport in Macomb Twp. The airport was sold in 2003 and Mary Jane and Milton enjoyed a long deserved retirement together, taking short trips to the Upper Peninsula area and day trips to Marine City and St. Clair where they enjoyed watching the freighters pass. Mary Jane Berz was a life long member of the First Church of Christ Scientists and truly loved her church and her fellow members. The family is requesting that any donations in Mary Jane's memory be made to the Christian Science Reading Room located at 412 S. Main St. Rochester, MI 48307. Mary Jane's life was very full. She savored good friends, good times and the love of her family. She will be lovingly remembered forever. Private Services where held. Arrangements by Wm.
