RITA McCUE Obituary

McCUE RITA JANICE Of Harbor Springs, MI, passed away June 15, 2010 at her home. Janice was born on April 29, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan to Edmund Burke Montgomery (deceased) and Opal Dime Montgomery (deceased). She lost her her twin sister and best friend, (Rhoda) Jean Trombley ten years ago. Janice is survived by her husband Neal, brother Edmund Burke Montgomery (Gloria) of Indianapolis, Indiana; her three children Karen McCue of Petoskey, Deborah Cooper (Gary) of Ann Arbor and Robert McCue (Barbara) of Brunswick, Maine; seven grandchildren - Mark Torr, Jennifer York (Jay), Shana McCue (deceased), Katherine McCue, Nathan McCue, Leigh Cooper and Joseph Cooper; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Janice lived in Detroit until her graduation from Albion College in 1950 with a B.A degree. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Following graduation, she married Neal L. McCue and raised their three children in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills. She was a wonderful wife and Campbell's soup mom of the fifties. Janice loved bridge and, as her many friends knew, played a wickedly good game. She enjoyed golf vacations with her husband, son and friends. Janice participated in planning numerous class reunions dating back to grade school – she was the glue that held many life-long friends together. She was interested in gardening and became one of the first to take the Master Gardeners Program through the MSU Extension Service. Health problems prevented her from actively participating in the physical aspects of gardening and golf in her later years. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey, MI or Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. A Memorial Service will be held in August. Schiller Funeral Home of Harbor Springs assisted the family.
