Robert Houbeck Obituary
Shelby Township - Passed away on February 11, 2021, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Virginia for 65 cherished years. Loving father of Robert Jr. (Raeanne), the late infant Nancy, Nancianne (the late Gregory) Rennie and the late Richard Sladkin, Michael (Theresa), Joseph (Barbara), Dennis (Lynn), Marianne (Bill) Ochalek, and John (Joan). Proud papa of 27 grandchildren and loved "Papa Pow-Kiss" of 24 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Ruby (the late Lloyd) Shipman, and the late Rita (the late Robert) Harper. He was predeceased by his grandchildren, Peter Houbeck, Deborah and Kevin Sladkin. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunrise of Shelby for their wonderful care of Robert, and also extend much gratitude to everyone at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital for their compassion and expertise.
He was a graduate of Denby High School. Retired Central System Supervisor for Detroit Edison Company. Robert served in WWII as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Private Visitation Wednesday 3-9pm with a 7pm Rosary at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Rd at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Thursday 9am until time of 10am Mass at St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church, 4571 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are appreciated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or St. Paul of Tarsus Food Pantry. Dear Family:
I was so saddened to hear of Robert's passing. My heart goes out to all of you. Robert wasn't
just my cousin; he was my Godfather. A man I admired and had great respect for. To all that knew him; knew what a good man he was - kind, caring, humble and a man of great integrity and faith.
I hope each one of you will find comfort and peace in the good memories you had with him; as I too have some good memories of him to look back on. I will miss him and know he will be deeply missed by many!
