THOMAS B. HOLZER

longtime Farmington Hills, Mi. Ford Dealer passed away at his Naples, Florida winter home on May 19, 2006 following a brief illness. Born July 5, 1929, Holzer was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict. Following his service duty, he attended and graduated from the University of Toledo, where he starred on the football team. Following stints at dealerships in Toledo and Detroit, he opened Tom Holzer Ford, Farmington Hills, Michigan in 1974. Working along side of him in the business, his wife, Constance and many of his children, together built the dealership into one of the nation's largest and most successful Ford dealerships. Holzer, who narrated many of his own radio commercials, was known for his gravely voice and his motto "We'll sell the vehicles at a loss and make it up in volume, 'No Problem!" Thomas (Buzzy) Holzer, his son and current Director of Operations of the dealership voiced his happiness that his father had lived to see the completion of the brand new facility. "This was Dad's dream to see the facility completed. He was so proud of the business. He wanted this dealership to reflect his pride in his family and this community. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Constance Holzer; children, Buzzy Holzer, Terry Holzer, Victoria Holzer, Tamara (Dr. Scott) Connin, Theresa (Joe) Wertham, and Heidi Holzer; brother, Bernard Holzer; sisters, Bernadette Bollin and Joan Whiddon; and grandchildren Lindsey, Rielly, Jodie, Ashley, Kelsey, Nickie, Thomas, Taylor, Madeline and Chase. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24, 2-4 & 6-9 at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 25 at St. Hugo, Bloomfield Hills and also on Friday May 26 at Gesu in Toledo, OH.
