Grosse Pointe Woods - William "Bill" Fleming Sr., 83 died peacefully at his home in Grosse Pointe Woods on May 28, 2021. Born August 31, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio to Raymond and Elizabeth Fleming. Bill attended Lakewood High School, Denison University, and Bexley Hall Divinity School. He was a skilled baseball player who was a four-year starter at Denison and played minor league baseball in the Cleveland Indians' organization. Bill served in the United States Navy, where his baseball skills allowed him to spend more time on dry land than on board a naval vessel. After leaving the Navy, Bill was employed in the Human Resources field by various companies, including Xerox Corporation and Budco. For over fifty years, Bill served God and his parish communities by ministering at various churches, including Christ Church-Detroit, Christ Church-Dearborn, Christ Church-Cranbrook and Mariners' Church, Detroit. Bill is survived by his former spouse, Rosanna Fleming and their four children, Bill Fleming, Jr. (Laura Sanom), Greg Fleming, Dave Fleming (Kim), and Bryan Fleming. He was a proud grandfather to, Megan, Emily, Andrew, Lucas, Zach, Ally, Kate, and Noah. Bill is also survived by his brother, James "Jimmy" Fleming (Karen). Funeral services have taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Christ Church Detroit, 960 E. Jefferson, Detroit, MI 48207 would be appreciated.

I worked for seven Rectors and Interim Rectors during my 32 years at Christ Church Cranbrook. He was my favorite. The world has lost a great man.
