Anna Adix Obituary

Anna L. (Hahn) Adix Anna Marion Louise Hahn Adix, 92, of Yorktown went to her heavenly home on October 25, 2022. She was born February 20, 1930 in Yorktown, TX to Friedrich and Anna Born Hahn. She was a graduate of Yorktown High School and attended Texas Lutheran College. On December 12, 1948, she married the love of her life Carl Adix, Jr. at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she had been baptized and confirmed.

Ann will be remembered for how much she loved Jesus, and how she loved everyone around her with a Christ-like love. As she and Carl raised their seven children on the farm, they instilled values of faith, work ethic, prudence and competitive fun. Ann served as a Sunday school teacher in the nursery department for over 50 years and baked thousands of little birthday cakes for the children throughout the decades. Her kitchen always smelled of something delicious baking, whether it was her famous chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, homemade bread, cinnamon rolls or German holiday treats.

Over the years as the family grew, the house became joyfully crowded during the holidays, as spending the time together at "Granny's" made the season come to life. There would regularly be attendees who she wasn't technically related to, though she made everyone feel like family in her presence. After Carl passed away in 2000, she became self-sufficient with a gun for any troublesome varmints or snakes that came too close to the house, leading her family to call her Annie Oakley.

Ann nurtured deep friendships late into her life, and loved outings and adventures with her Silver Sneakers exercise group. Without telling anyone else, she regularly helped others in need, through financial support, tutoring, baking meals, making quilts, and caring for people in crisis.

She would tell of a beloved childhood memory of her riding her brother's horse Champ full speed to school while her classmates shouted, "Open the gates. Anna Louise is coming!" Surely Saint Peter was told the same thing this past week. Her loving presence will be missed by all who knew her, but that sadness is overshadowed by the joy and peace of knowing that she is now in the arms of her Sweet Jesus.

She is survived by her children Carolyn (Bill) Bargmann, Drenda (Jeff) Hall, Carl (Mary) Adix, III, Ginger (Billy) Hood, Marilyn (Wesley) McAda, Nancy (Jon) Longlet, and Kenneth (Kristin) Adix, and her sister Tonie Metting. She was "Granny" to Michael, Russell, Jordan, Camden, Curtis, Jared, Kevin, Jeffrey, Joshua, Emilee, Adriane, Stephen, Emily, Reagan, Adam, LeeAnna, Lucas, and Amanda. Her great-grandchildren are Michaela, Conrad, Jackson, Paxton, Ellie, Grayson, Emma, Brinley, Harrison, Merritt, Logan, Bennett, Charli-Jean, Knox, Olivia, Arden, Carter, Pierce, Danielle, Jon Daniel, Elliott, Cade, Ford, Hudson, Price, and Theodore.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, infant daughter Carlyn, sister Olivia Hay, and brothers Herbert, Raymond, and Edward Hahn.

Her beloved grandchildren will all serve as pallbearers.

The visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 12:00-2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 222 North Gohmert, Yorktown. The funeral service will begin immediately afterwards at 2:00 pm at the church, with interment to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. A reception will then be held at the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Building Fund), Yorktown EMS, Smile Train, or donor's choice.

The family thanks Dr. Dan Dugi and her caregivers Stephanie Moore, Rebecca Banda, Wanda Eernisse, Carol Guzman, Shirley Karnei, Connie Vogt, and Penny Saenz who lovingly cared for our dear one. They are also so grateful to daughter Drenda and son-in-law Jeff whose medical guidance and coordination allowed Ann to live out her final years on the farm.
