Evangeline "Vangie" Schirmer

Corpus Christi, Evangeline "Vangie" Schirmer, 81, passed away on November 17, 2025. She was born on February 4, 1944, in Goliad, Texas, to the late Berthold Seiler and Elorine Walter Seiler. Evangeline is survived by her children, Melvin "Ray" Zaiontz of Yorktown, TX, Annette "Netzy" Zaiontz Gelinas of Cape Coral, FL, and Shanon Zaiontz Butler of Corpus Christi, TX, Punkin her dog of Corpus Christi TX; her grandchildren, Misty, Thomas, Justin, Ashlee, Jacob, Helaina, and Bella, great-grandchildren Luke, Noah, Hanna, Zane, Ava, Case, Konley, and Kaylor; great great-grandchildren Bethany, and soon to be Mavis; and her daughter-in-law Sharon Zaiontz, son-in-law Glen Butler, and son-in-law Bob Gelinas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman E. Schirmer of Woodsboro; her parents, Berthold Seiler and Elorine Walter Seiler; her siblings, Billy Seiler, Diane Seiler Pundt, and Lionel Wolfshohl; and her dog Girley. Vangie adored hummingbirds, and her favorite color was purple. She enjoyed gardening, road trips, genealogy, her dogs, spending time with her grandchildren (they called her "Nonnie"), playing computer games, reading, shopping online, and eating shrimp. There will be a graveside service celebrating her life at Larosa Cemetery, 207-213 Churchill Rd., Woodsboro, TX 78393, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00 am.
