Albert Ferrari Obituary

Albert "Al" Charles Ferrari danced his last dance on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the age of 96. Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel. Al was born June 6, 1920, in Aulla, Italy, to Dominic and Maria Ferrari. He became a U.S. citizen in 1927 and grew up in Lynn, Mass. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, starting in 1941, and was honorably discharged Sept. 11, 1945, with the rank of staff sergeant. He joined American Airlines Inc. in 1948. Al rose through the ranks and was promoted to several positions at American Airlines. In January 1970, Al became president of Sky Chefs. The job also included the presidency of American's Flagship Hotels. Al retired in 1982 with a very distinguished career that contributed to the success of American Airlines. Al was a man respected for his intellect, dedication and patriotism. He was a loving father and a proud Italian and U.S. citizen. His family, and many who knew and loved Al, will miss him dearly. Buona notte, Dad. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher; his sister, Yolanda; and his brother, Ray. Survivors: His loving wife of 62 years, Irene; devoted children, Lesa, Tina, Susan, Sharon and Michael; his brother, Dominic; his nephews, Bill and John; and beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Ryan, Kimberly, Alison, Alex and Reid.
