I must admit I never met Dr. McDowell but had a connection with him. He worked with my Great Aunt OraLee Tate at General Dynamics. She told him that her niece and nephew were looking to adopt a child. He told them he knew a girl that was going to deliver around March. I was born March 4, 1968 and delivered by Dr. McDowell. My adoptive parents picked me up and at 3 days old I was on a plane to Arkansas. My life has been wonderful. I had a beautiful home life and was very blessed. I've been married 29 years and have 5 wonderful children and a beautiful granddaughter. I talked to Dr. McDowell many years ago about my adoption but he told me that he wouldn't tell me anything but he knew I came from "good stock!" I understand why he couldn't say anything.... I was just hoping! I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. It's strange but when I knew he was alive I felt a connection to him because very few people knew anything about me prior to my adoption and he was one of them. I hope that made sense! My deepest condolences to his wife and children and extended family. Just reading the "guest book" shows me what a wonderful man he was.

Dr. Murphy & Dr. McDowell were my doctors for over 50 yrs. Thet were my father & mothers doctors since I was just a kid. They were also my fathers golfing partners. Speaking of the furniture, our mfg. co., not far from his office, we built. He was such a good man & will really miss him. Since he passed, I think of him everyday. We're losing these special people & I wonder if they can be replaced. Went to a new doctor, nice person but it just wasn't the same. God bless him & his special family.

Dr McDowell was the last of the great family doc's He was kind, smart & really cared about his patients. I often joked with him that his waiting room looked like Lazarus's chamber . He was a truly caring physician & perhaps one of his best qualities was that he really listened & made his patients feel as if they were his only real concern . God bless him, Ft Worth will not be the same with out him. I only hope there is a good Cuban cigar smoke shop in heaven

He was definitely one of a kind. I remember going to his office, when I was little girl, and he always had a cigar stuck in his mouth, a ring of smoke around his head that followed him wherever he went. He was kind, funny and made me always feel I was the most important thing at that moment. He was a character, for sure, and he was loved by many.

My sincere condolences to the family of the GREATEST DOCTOR that ever lived. He was one of a kind and enjoyed life and loved his family. He was the only doctor who could properly diagnose when all other doctors failed. He never gave up and he always sacrificed for his patients. Not only was he my doctor, but also my friend for over 35 years, and they did break the mold after he was created. There will never be another doctor as dedicated and great as he was. Jennifer please know that you and the family are in my prayers and he will be missed terribly.
