Ann Boddie Obituary

Ann Boddie, 85, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, after a courageous battle with heart disease. Service: 3:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: She asked that instead of flowers that donations be made to Christ the King Episcopal Church, 3290 Lackland Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76116 or a favorite charity. Ann was born Aug. 7, 1925, in New York City. She moved to Fort Worth in 1959. Ann worked at her own secretarial service at first. Later she held jobs as a bookkeeper in the wholesale food industry and as a memory typist in the insurance industry. She excelled at anything she did. Ann loved country music and with her outgoing personality, met many of her favorite stars. She loved her church family at Christ the King Episcopal Church. Ann loved animals and owned dogs, cats and horses. Her father, the late Oscar Welz, was from Karlsrue, Germany, and her mother, the late Martha Schreijak Welz, was from Buoch, Germany. They met in New York where Oscar was a maitre'd at the Waldorf Astoria. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar, Otto and Tony, all of New Jersey. Survivors: Husband of 38 years, Larry Boddie of Fort Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Charles Bennett; grandson, Cayce Bennett, all of Burleson; sister, Martha Webster of Chuckey, Tenn.

Dear Larry,
I am so saddened to hear that Ann died. I had hoped for years that we could get together again but I guess we all got too old. Please come and visit your nieces sometime.

Larry.. Really sorry to hear the news...
Somehow, I lost contact with "you guys" in the last couple of years, and I hate that. Please accept our most sincere condolences.... We'll keep you in our prayers. Nolan

I've always like the following. But, I know that I won't provide much solace....

I Did Not Die
Author: Melinda Sue Pacho

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Larry, this is Steve Jones from Hollister, California. I'm so sorry to hear of Ann's passing. I had been wondering where she had gone. We use to exchange Emails all the time and she even sent my granddaughter a baby blanket when Chloe was born. She was a very special lady and I loved her dearly...even if it was by long distance. Please remember that Ann was cherished by a lot of people!!
