Georgia Ann Sutherland was born June 15, 1936, in Fort Worth, daughter of the late George Clair Sutherland and Ann Louise Shaw Sutherland.
Ann graduated from OLV in 1950 and attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed in sales at Cox Department Store and later was associated with Dillard's for 28 years. Annie was an accomplished calligrapher and interested in greeting cards. She was also a member of the Fort Worth Calligraphers Guild.
Ann was extremely interested in Fort Worth and its history. Shaw Street was named for her great-grandmother who brought her family to Fort Worth when she was widowed. She moved into a home where the George Clarke School now stands and established the Shaw Bros. Dairy.
Ann suffered in recent times from a heart condition, but had improved and declared yesterday the best day of her life.
She was a charter member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, where she served as a eucharistic minister, particularly for the homebound. She also enjoyed attending Sunday Eucharist with her former teachers at OLV and singing in the choir.
Survivors: Brother, Doug Sutherland; several cousins; and an extended family of co-workers from Dillard's Department Store.

Uncle Doug- I have been thinking about you a lot. You and Ann were such buddies and I know you must miss her terribly. I will miss Ann so much. I loved our coversations at the kitchen table. She always made sure she had coffee nip candies for me. Every time I have one, I think of her. I'm happy to have those memories and her smile forever in my heart. I hope wonderful memories provide you comfort as well. Love you- Gina

Doug, We were so sorry to hear about Anne. I was in shock when Bug told me. We have been the best of friends for a long long time, and have many happy memories. From skating on Eizabeth Blvd , to eating ripe olives in bed when our folks were playing cards, and she was a bridesmaid for our wedding. She was the best and we loved her. She will be missed.

Doug,
Martha told me of Annie's death this afternoon. It was one of the things she remembered in her confused state. I am very sorry for your loss, and you are in my prayers. Having you and Annie vist Martha in the last months has been a blessing. God be with in these trying times.

Doug,

I was very saddened to hear of Smiley's death. Last I saw her in June, she seemed frustrated about her continued health problems, but determined to get better. I miss her and will always cherish our l-o-o-o-n-n-g talks, joking, etc. She was a great lady.

Sorry I could not be there for the service, but know that I am there in spirit. I wish you all the best!

Doug:
I have known Ann for many years, having attended OLV together. She was a year ahead of me in high school. I am so sorry to learn of her death. She has been on our St. Andrew parish prayer list for quite some time. We ran into each other off and on over the years and always had some wonderful conversations. I also worked with her on our all-high school Reunion 2000. She always had lots of good things to say about you. I know you will miss her. I will pray for you and for Ann. May God bless you and bring you comfort and may her soul rest in peace.

Uncle Doug,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your sister, Ann. I know first hand how difficult that can be and how she will always be in your heart. Please know that my experiences in my younger years with both Ann and your Mom were nothing but wonderful and memorable.

Please accept my condolences and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Doug,

I am very sorry to learn about Ann's passing. I knew she had some health problems, but I thought things were better. She helped us on the 2000 Reunion and I really got to know her a little better.

You and your family will be in my prayers.

I remember Ann at Cox's Department stores in the early seventies at the Berry St store. Our path's crossed again at the Dillard's Buying Office in the nineties. Ann always was a hard worker and care greatly for others, a happy person. My life is better for knowing you throughout the years.
May God's grace with you and your family.

Doug,

Gigi and I offer our condolences and share in your loss because of our mutual love and closeness to Ann.

As you know, Ann was the sister I never had and while I am selfishly sorry that she has left us I also realize that she was content, happy and accepting of any decision the Good Lord made for her.

Annie was a great gal. She was one of the dedicated workers on the reunion staff of 2000 for OLV, Lanerie & Mt.Carmel. This event was a huge success and a tribute to all who worked on it. She seemed to enjoy the giving of her time and effort in helping. She will be missed.

Dear Doug,

During our many years of friendship I remember Ann always with a smile. She was the first to volunteer and help someone in need. Her leaving us on the exact same date as my own mother, Gertrude Botik in 2007, adds a special irony to our friendship that I treasure.
All the best to you Doug as you move forward. Ann, we love and remember you forever.
