Ann Volk Obituary

Ann Volk FORT WORTH - Ann Nell Purvis Volk "Nanny", 81, died in her home Saturday evening, Oct. 14, 2017. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Our Nanny's life. Ann was born on Nov. 1, 1935, in Jacksonville, Texas to Sam J. Purvis and Velma Jowell Purvis. She graduated from high school in Kermit, Texas and later furthered her education at Mountain View college. Ann was married to Tommy Hixson from 1954 till 1970 during which time they shared three children together. She later worked for Rayovac for numerous years and then Cigna for several more until she retired with North West Pipe in 2001. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nola Purvis; and a brother. SURVIVORS: Nanny is survived by her three daughters. Her oldest, Roxanne Hixson Taylor of Fort Worth with whom Ann resided with. Roxanne, who greatly improved her mothers quality of life and cared for her through her final moments. Her second daughter, Stacia Hixson Meals and her husband, David of Joshua and youngest daughter, Regina Hixson Ingram and her husband, Mike of Ovilla. And also Ann's precious pup Buddy; nine grandchildren, Cori Hixson Goodman, Leah Franks, Tiffany McKnight, Vance Barnett, Brandon Taylor, Barry Sharp, Jr., and Brittany Sharp Cervantes, Carla Morrow, Angela Vaughn and their spouses; 16 great-grandchildren, Kaleah, Erika, Grace, Jay, Braden, Caden, Joe, Jordan, Kenlee, Vance, Jr., Alyssa, Haden, Miley, Hadley, Lively and Niorin plus more whom she loved as her own. Ann would want her family and loved ones to be reminded that while she very much wants you to celebrate her life, don't think of her as gone away. Just think of her as resting from the discomfort, sorrows and tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today that nothing but our sadness can really pass away. She would want you to think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.

Ann Nell, it was a pleasure to know you and have you as a classmate. It was great to see you at the high school reunion in July. Your family will have a special angel watching over them.

Ann thanks for all the love you always showed all of your family and friends. You have compleated this journey here on earth and started a great life with Jesus beside the father. In your new mansion with all the street paved with gold. I know you are visiting with all of those that went before you. We all love you and will see you again.
