Billie Jean Owens Moon passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Euless, 1000 W. Airport Frwy., Euless. Dr. Jimmy Draper and Scott Sheppard officiating. Interment: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Drive in Denton. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Euless. Billy Jean Moon began her earthly life in 1926 in the Cooper Creek Community of Denton County. She was the fifth of five children born to Luther Harold Owens and Alberta Ruth Morris Owens. At the age of 8, Billie Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in Lake Dallas. Billie graduated from Cooper Creek Elementary School, Denton High School and Draughn's Business College in Fort Worth. In 1944 Billie Jean accepted the job of cashier at Burr's Department Store. On Dec. 7, 1949, Billie Jean was introduced to the love of her life, Coy B. Moon, by her cousin and husband, Herman and Geneva Lantrip. Herman and Coy were in military service together. Billie and Coy were married in August 1950 at the home of her aunt and uncle, Bonnie and Lewis Owens. In June 1951 Billie and Coy moved to Wichita Falls where Billie accepted the job of office manager for Wichita Heavy Hardware Supply Company. In August 1953 Billie and Coy relocated to Arlington where she accepted the job of office manager for Western Aspen Excelsior Manufacturing Company, where she worked until her retirement in 1970. June through August 1962, Billie and Coy built and moved into their home in Euless. The first Sunday in October 1962 Billie and Coy joined First Baptist Church of Euless where she has been serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, in various capacities from class secretary, church historian, librarian, pre-school department director, WMU president, choir member and whatever else needed to be done until health issues forced curtailment of her activities. Billie Jean Moon is lovingly referred to as the sweetheart of First Baptist Church, Euless, and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Survivor: Loving husband of 65 years, Coy Moon; as well as a large extended family of friends.
