Bobby Gabbert Obituary

Bobby Gene Gabbert, 64, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004.

Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Bobby Gene Gabbert was born May 23, 1939, in Pottsboro. He graduated from Brewer High School in 1957. He enjoyed playing sports as a youth and was an avid boxer. He coached the Brewer High School Boxing Team from 1961-63 (West Side Gym). In the early 1960s he was the Fort Worth flyweight champion. He took teams to several tournaments throughout the state. He worked at Ben Hogan for 14 years where he served as president of the workers union. Bob had owned and operated Bob's Tree Service since 1974 and also self-service car washes. He enjoyed the horse races and was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Bob was honest and was liked by all who knew him. He was known as "Uncle Bob" to many.

Survivors: Sons, Rod Gabbert and wife, Christie, and Jeff Gabbert and wife, Kathy, all of White Settlement; grandchildren, Bobby Gabbert of White Settlement, Elizabeth Gabbert of Lubbock and Emily Gabbert, Amy Gabbert, Rebecca Gabbert and Jennifer Gabbert, all of White Settlement; sister, Debbie Putnam of White Settlement; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Bobby has been a good friend sence the late 40's.I always enjoyed our trips to Vagas to play golf.

I'm glad he got to come to our "Old Friend's Reunions" the last few years. He will be missed by all his friends.
