Brian was both my grandmother and Mothers doctor for years until their deaths. He was so caring and thoughtful of both and of my feelings too. The world lost one of the best Doctors and most remarkable humans that we had the opportunity to know and trust. I am so thankful to him and for his counsel, and join many others in missing him.

Dr. Rutledge was my doctor for several years in Ft. Worth. He made such an impression on my life that after 30 years I decided to look up Doc Brian and am devastated to see he has passed. He was the best doctor I have ever had and was so sad when I moved and could no longer see him. I will always remember how proud he was of his daughter and the way the look of love came over his face when he spoke about his wife and daughter. My condolences to you all.

Yesterday, I read of Brian's passing in the TCU magazine...I was pained. Brian, with a great smile on his face would remind me from time to time that I was "one of his first" (patients).....Brian recognized things about my career and the toll it took on my health, twenty-five years before it finally "hit" me ! Brian was KIND, Empathetic, BRIGHT, an astute LISTENING physician...I always knew that when that door opened, I was to be greeted with a great smile and kindness.....I have missed him immensely for years.... Brian's care was a gift of God's grace in my life....I wish his wife and daughter peace after his passing....

Our family met Doc Brian in 1982. We became almost family as Art once said to me. Brian asked me to be Samanthas nanny back in 91.... Wish I could have but was in college. May Val and Sam be lifted up with many prayers & great memories of a BRILLIANT man! My heart is broken. Teri Wright

Dr. Rutledge was a terrific resource to me and my staff in the public relations department at All Saints Episcopal Hospital. Even with his intense focus on his patients, he was always collegial and accessible when we needed an expert source for a news release to the media, or some wisdom for a medical staff article, event or issue. May your time of grief go gently, giving way to the lifetime of memories all of you in the family must treasure.

I would often walk across the street - Gloria, Art, Brian, Libby and Julia ... theirs was the house in the neighborhood to bring the dog and hang out.
My best to you all and yours - Brian was a true man and great scientist to be missed dearly.

Going back over 40 years, I recall Brian was one of the few guys that perhaps every High School Senior class has - an honor student, great athlete, and also a team leader. Any one of those qualities would be welcomed by most, but Brian had them all. Sorry to see him go so soon. Rest in Peace, Brian.

I would like express my sincere sympathy to the family of Dr. Brian Rutledge. Dr. Rutledge was my mom's doctor as well as mine. His smile and concern for you would make you concentrate less on that illness you were seeing him about. My prayer for you is that God will continue to give you peace during this difficult time.

Kathy and I send our sympathy. I grew up in the neighborhood with Brian and others playing ball in Rix Quinn's side yard. More than a few years later Brian was my parents doctor. He added years to their lives. Brian's medical skills resulted in my father living eleven more years. Thanks to Brian, our daughters had an active and involved grandfathers.

Thank you my friend. Rest in Peace.

To the family of Brian Rutledge, my deepest sympathy. I grew up across the “circle” from the Rutledge’s and have many memories of Brian especially his achievements in high school and the pride his family shared in these achievements. I remember when he left home to pursue his medical career, the whole neighborhood felt a sense of pride, even if it did leave us younger kids with one less “cool teenager” to hang out with. He was an inspiration to us as he grew and achieved his goal of becoming a Doctor and joined his father in practicing medicine with his father. Brian, you will be missed by many. I pray that your family find comfort during this difficult time. Find peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to Brian's family. He was a very special source when I wrote about the TCC downtown campus project. But beyond that, we became email buddies and wrote of many things, from cabbages to kings. His lovely prose, wise counsel, and gentle wit were treasures and I have kept all of his precious words. My heart aches with you, his beloved family. I shall miss him greatly.
