The light of our lives, Brock Allan "Chedda" Cherry, 17, of Shelley, passed away early Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Brock was born April 25, 1994, in Idaho Falls, to Tracy William Cherry and DeNise Adrienne Sato Cherry.
He grew up in Shelley and attended Stuart Elementary School, Hobbs Middle School and Shelley High School, where he was a senior. Brock was a dedicated worker at Dad's Truck Wash for two years.
Brock was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding and drawing; graffiti art was his forte. Brock's ultimate passion, however, was skateboarding. He was striving to become a pro-skateboarder, entering competitions whenever available.
After graduation, his goal was to attend an art school in Denver.
Brock is survived by his parents, DeNise Cherry of Shelley and Tracy Cherry of Idaho Falls; brother, Nathan Cherry of Shelley; sister, Danyel (Jordon) Knapp of Terreton, Idaho; and grandfather, James Sato of Idaho Falls.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Darlene Sato.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home Chapel of the Pines, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, with Trent Dye of the Shelley LDS 8th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

When we think of Brock we see this energetic, talented young man that seemed to be born with a skateboard attached to his feet. He was flying high when he was performing on his skateboard! We know how deep your grief is at this time and we want to express our deepest sorrow, as well. But we pray that your hearts will be filled with the special memories that Brock has given; and the comfort of a Loving Father in Heaven & Savior that has made it possible for us to live again and be forever families. Love, The Cederbergs

Words cannot express the grief and sadness when someone dearly loved has passed away. The feelings are so deep, so overwhelming and unreal that it's difficult to know just what to say. But when words fail we can show what's in our hearts by being there to listen and comfort.
(Psalm 147:3) . . .He is healing the brokenhearted ones, And is binding up their painful spots.
