Burke Burkart Obituary

Arlington, Texas - Dr. Burke Burkart, of Arlington, Texas, passed away in late July in the presence of his beloved wife, Marilyn, and his family near his residence at the Texas Masonic Retirement Community. Burke was a Professor of Geology at the University of Texas at Arlington for thirty-five years whose research focused on Central American plate tectonics. He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas by his parents Velma and Herman. He attended Highland Park High School before leaving for Austin, Texas to attend the University of Texas at Austin. At UT-Austin, Burke graduated with Bachelors and Master's degrees in Geology. He served as an Air Force officer in Germany before returning to Texas to complete a Ph.D. in Geology at Rice University. Burke and Marilyn married in Philadelphia before moving to Arlington in 1970, where they raised sons Patrick and Michael. Burke is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons, grandchildren Zoe and Felix, and brother Robert.

Hello Marilyn, Patrick, and Michael -
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Uncle Burke. His passing was only 1 day after dad´s 88th birthday.
I will miss Burke very much, and I am lucky to have him as my uncle.
Burke was always so kind and happy when we saw you all, and I will never forget him. I only wish I had gotten to spend more time with him - and also with all of you.
I keep in touch with Patrick on messenger and will keep him posted on dad´s condition, and I hope to hear more via Pat about your new adventures in life in Eureka!
I wish you all the very best! And who knows, maybe we will see meet there someday to visit if we are in California.
RIP Uncle Burke.
