Carolyn Snyder Obituary

Carolyn Snyder, 66, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Chapel Bible Church. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Carolyn was a faithful Christian woman who embodied Christ's message in everything she did. Her compassion, selflessness, courage, understanding, sense of humor and love for everyone she met were hallmarks of her life. If blessed enough to have crossed paths with this remarkable woman they walked away better for it. Carolyn and Wayne Snyder raised their two children, Jane and Jim, to be loving Christians, wonderful parents and incredible friends.
She will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew her, but through Christ's salvation, she is in heaven, free from pain, praising the Lord.
Survivors: Daughter, Jane and husband, Bruce McGregor; son, Jim Snyder and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Crystal, Sloan, Timothy, Gavin, Carson, Kelli, Macy, Bailey and Cassidy.

Carolyn's passing is very sad for me. She was my best friend in high school 50 years ago in Pierre, SD. We kept in touch over the years
and she was the sweetest woman I have ever known. She was so giving. Everyone was hoping that she would at our 50th reunion
which took place in 2010. We are all so saddened. She will be remembered by all. Our childhood friendship was so dear and she will be in my thoughts forever.

Long before there were surrogate moms, Carolyn was a surrogate mom for my sister and I. She was the prime example of poise, confidence, and class. My thoughts and prayers go out to Janie and Jimmy, and hope that you treasure the times you had with your mom. She was a really cool person.

Jim and Janie-

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. Your Mom was such a remarkable woman. I will always cherish her smile, her laugh, and "the look"; she had a way of lightening thing up around her. I am truly blessed by having her touch my life.

I suppose we first met at Ridglea Hills School over 30 years ago. Carolyn and I clicked right away. It was wonderful to have a friend who was as tall as I was. We spent many weekends at the Lake Worth Sailing Club while our kids played in the water, or sailed Sunfish.
As it happened, Carolyn and I were later single at the same time and spent hours laughing and crying, being crazy and solving all the problems of the world.
We last talked after Christmas, I always treasured the annual Christmas picture of the beautiful grandchildren. Carolyn was so proud of her children, and of her grandchildren. She loved you all completely.
I will truly miss her smile and her courage.

Carolyn was truly a lady of class and integrity. My time at Billy Bob's would not have been the same without her laugh, her wit and her help. This world has truly lost a wonderful person but heaven has gained a beautiful angel. My codolences and prayers go out to Jim, Janie and their families.

Some of the best memories of my life are of Billy Bobs and the people I grew to love there. Carolyn was one of those people. She always had a smile and a hello for you. She was the first person you'd see coming to work and the last one going home. Even though I had not seen her in a couple of years I thought of her often as I have everyone else there. My prayers are with her family and friends. Please know that she did touch my life in my early years and I will always remember her for that.

My heart is very sad that Carolyn is gone. Somehow she seemed invincible and you always knew...if you have a problem or question, just call Carolyn. We worked together for 6.5 years in the 80's, and it was her guidance and strength that made coming to work each day such a joy. Later in the 90's she was always willing to help. Jimmy and Janie: know that your mother was a one-of-a-kind person. Having known her, we are all better people.

Jimmy and Janie (some things never change!!) And, among those things is the love and admiration I have for your mother. She was a staple in the lives of so many. I can't begin to list the many times she was a rock for me. As an example of just a few, she was my stand-in mom on my sixteenth birthday. She was the first to know I was getting married and she held my hand during several very difficult times in my life both as a teenager and an adult. Thank you for sharing her with me.
Carolyn Snyder will forever be the image of courage and strength. She had the courage to allow others to be who the are and the strength to love them when few others did.
While fortunate may not describe your feelings today, just know that the essence of "her" lives in you and your babies every day and you are truly bless to have been able to call "her" mom.
Faith, Hope, Love.....and Grace.

WELL, ONE CAN'T EXPRESS OR CONVEY MY FEELINGS.
I HAVE SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES, PRIVATE AND PUBLIC, OF THIS REMARKABLE WOMAN. SHE WAS A GREAT BOSS, FRIEND AND ADOPTIVE MOTHER. CAROLYN'S AND RUTH'S MEMORIES CREEP INTO MY HEART WHEN I SIT ON MY PORCH AT THE RANCH AND WATCH THE SUNSETS AND ALL THE GOOD THINGS COME TO LIGHT IN REFLECTION. MANY LAUGHS, SMILES, JOKES & SOMETIMES "JUST A LOOK" WOULD MAKE THE THREE OF US SMILE - SOME MEMORY ONLY THE THREE OF US KNEW ABOUT.

I WILL SURELY MISS HER AS I HAVE ALREADY.

Jimmy and Janie are in my prayers today for their loss of one truly amazing woman. Carolyn was the Godmother of the Fort Worth Gazette. She helped behind the scenes with me and countless other people.

She was always there for anybody that needed a good friend. She was such a classy lady. I enjoyed hearing her stories about South Dakota and her family. I first met her at Wayne's office in Livestock Exchange Building the late 70s before her Billy Bob's Texas career. She was the heart and soul of that nightclub. I am glad for her to reach her eternal reward. Let us all keep her memory as an inspiration.

Carolyn so loved her family. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren. I have missed her since she began enjoying her retirement. She was always there to greet us, to listen as we shared stories. She was always smiling, and never judgemental. We can all learn from the way she lived her life. We are lucky to have known her.

I am just one of many blessed to have known Carolyn. She was a mentor and a teacher to me, but above all, a trusted friend. Her elegance, her sense of humor, her sincerity and her wisdom are what I will remember most fondly. What I would give for just one more hour with her at the Lone Star Cafe, drinking coffee and watching the sun come up while we solved the world's problems. But I praise God for freeing her from the pain she lived with daily on this earth, and I rejoice knowing she is with Him. Jimmy and Janie and family, please know you are in my prayers.
