TO THE FAMILY OF PASTOR BRITT
WE AT ST. JOHN BAPTIST CHURCH HEARTS ARE BROKEN, HOWEVER WE CAN STILL HEAR PASTOR BRITT SAY THESE WORDS

Have thine own way, Lord.
Have thine own way
For thou art the potter
And we are but the clay
Now please sir, mold us and make us
After thy will
While we're waiting, Yielded and still
And now God if I should attempt to stand behind this sacred desk with too much fear, then make me courageous. And if with too much pride, then humble me again.
But have thine own way, Lord
Have thine own way.

Thank you for sharing Pastor Britt with us over the many years he came to Gary.

To The Britt Family,

I was deeply sadden to hear of the passing of Cedric. I have memories of him as a positive, easy going guy in school, always a gentleman. It is my prayer that you and your family will again experience peace and joy, not after the darkness, but even in the midst of it. May God Bless and Keep you in His love and care.

To the Britt family,

Separation is not an easy situation to go through and my prayers are with you all at this time.

However, there is consolation in knowing that the LORD will make a way and He will certainly carry you through the lonesome times, the memory times, the loving times of reaching out to others while you are still dealing with your own grief, and the crying times.

Hold your heads up and never give up on GOD.

I have known Pastor Britt for 38 years and he has always presented himself as a man of God with respect for himself and others. He was a well rounded minister of the gospel and he loved the Word of God.

My family will truly miss him.

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,

And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Now the laborer’s task is over;
Now the Battle day is past;
Now upon the farther shore
Lands the voyager at last.

It is with great sorrow that we part with Cedric on this side of Jordan, but oh what joy when we meet on the other side. When we reach that blessed homeland, Where there's everlasting day; On that bright and blessed morning, God shall wipe all tears away.

Always bear in mind that spirit was never born and spirit can never die. Remember that God gives grace for each trial, and courage for each sorrow and faith to face in confidence a blessed, sweet, blissful and bright tomorrow.

I had the pleasure of teaching Cedric Britt at Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High School, Dallas, Texas. Cedric was one of the most cognitive and inntelligent students I've ever taught. He was well respected as a student leader and scholar. His abundance of talents were obvious at a very young age, as he navigated through
life as a young man. The Nation, State of Texas, Cities of Dallas-Fort Worth have lost a great and outstanding leader.

I was able to reconnect with him again when I moved to Ft Worth to culminate my public teaching career. As I go to my Father in prayer, I will ask for a special blessing for the home going and the entire Family of Rev. Cedric Deon Britt.

With warm regards,
James Brown, Adjunct Professor

Sis Britt, Karen and the Britt Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Pastor Britt will forever be remembered for his reverance. He was not only a Preacher, Teacher, Mentor but a special friend. He was always there for my family in their time of need. He was there through sickness and health. My children will forever keep his memories of him special. I cannot express the friendship that my mom and our family shared with the him and the family throughout all these years.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also

To Sam, Mrs. Britt, Joyce, and Karen:

I join members of the family of God today as we celebrate, remember, and honor the life of our brother, Dr. Cedric D. Britt. He was indeed a princely, prophetic, and professorial preacher-pastor extraordinaire. I was always blessed by the manner in which he perched himself behind the holy desk. Invariably, and with holy boldness, he eloquently proclaimed the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My prayers are with you as we experience but punctuation in our fellowship with him. Moreover, I look forward to renewing acquaintance with him in the glorious resurrection.

“Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!” Hamlet (1601 A.D.) Act 5, Scene 2.

To the Britt family; may God grant you the peace He gives to all in their time of need. I remember Rev. Britt as a powerful minister and preacher. He came to preach at my grandfathers' church in Dallas on one or two occasions and blessed us greatly. We often wondered if our families were related but nothing was ever confirmed or denied. Thank God for blessing those of us who heard him "rightly divide the word of truth."

I shall always remember Rev Britt as a special person. He never called my husband without sending special words of encouragement to me. We became close friends after he had to have open heart surgery and I had gone through the procedure in 2003. He called to ask about certain health concerns and we were able to always encoourage one another. He would always say that our "God knows what He is doing with us and for us." He will be missed by many. I send special prayers to his lovely wife and daughter. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that God really cares for you.

At times like this families gather for support, strength and comfort. The hugs still feel as good and as welcome as when we were younger. They help to "make it all better" again. They help us know that we are not alone and the sun will rise again and the warmth will help us heal from a wound this deep and lasting.
You will have good days and bad ones but you can always call someone for help or just because and it will help.
I remember that smile. That wonderfully, playful smile that made listening to the art of speech fun.His sense of biblical expertise was enlightening and powerful. His preaching felt so special to me and good for my heart and soul.I miss him but I know he's in a better place.
He dedicated his life to God and the ministry that God gave him.He acknowledged and praised God in all he did and planned. He was a very good man who loved God,his family and his ministry. His strength was the Bible and his joy was saving the lost for CHRIST. God Bless you and family always. KIP

We rejoice and celebrate a life that was well lived and he will be missed in the Fort Worth community. He was a much beloved brother, pastor and most of all friend. Be encouraged!Love from Pastor and Mrs.A.V.Fisher and the Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas

Dr. Britt was a great Pastor and Preacher. Doc did several revivals for my father, Dr. Julius L. Jackson, Sr. at the Macedonia Baptist church in Ft. Worth, Texas, and for me also, while in St.Paul, Mn. It was always a joy to see him. I will truly miss Pastor Britt. My prayers and thoughts are with you Sister Britt and the family. Just remember the words to this song "Be not dismayed whatever be tide you, God will take care of you".

To Joyce, Karen and the entire Mt. Gilead family:
May God continue to be your source of strength. As Britt fondly reminded all, "Continue in prayer my friend, continue in prayer." He will be missed dearly and his sense of humor will never be forgotten.

To the Britt Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. Rev. Britt and I were friends, every time we saw each other, he would say to me, "continue in prayer". So I leave these few words with you, continue in prayer.

Rev Britt was not only a spiritual leader but also a brother and best friend to each and every one of the Mt Gilead Church family, and knowing this I find it a privilege to have been one of his sisters and friends for more than a quarter of a century. Vayas con amor de Dios, porque el amor de Dios es todo lo que tu has buscado através de su vida y yo se que encontrés. Delories McGhee

Joyce, our love and prayers go out to you and your family. Rev. Britt meant so much to us, and we treasure the times we spent with Him; from our times at Bishop College and St. John, to the times he had my husband preach at Mt. Gilead, to the times he preached our revivals in Denver. God bless and keep you.

Sister Joyce Britt, I have prayed for your husband and my friend Pastor Britt for better than 3 years each weekend, I will now keep you and your daughter Karen in my prayers. We are here for you and we know that God will give you the ability to see His grace even through your pain. We love you and we are praying for you.

We had the opportunity to spend time with Cedric at Bishop College and then spend time in fellowship at numerous Church events. The real measure of a man's wealth is what he has invested in eternity and he invested well.

My my my my, my friend is gone, I still can't believe it, well as Heaven will have it, like you would say, "there's a new sheriff in town". We all know God is in control. There is no more heartache, no more headache for you, there are only beautiful days ahead for you. Give Mommy hugs for me. Your son will show you around as well. My my my! To the Britt family! God be the glory!
