Charles English Obituary

Charles Emmett English, 76, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, in Arlington.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington Funeral Home Chapel, 1221 E. Division in Arlington. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jody Hammonds. Burial: Old Arlington Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Funeral Home.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, 3301 W. Freeway, Fort Worth 76107.

Charles was a kind, loving and compassionate husband, father and grandfather. He was a quiet man of few words, but his friends and family knew him well.

Charles was born at home and attended school in Euless. He married his soulmate and the absolute love of his life, Ramona Jean Burch-English, in 1950. He was faithfully married for 39 years until her passing in 1989.

He helped manage and work on his family's various dairy and farming operations for several years before going to work for the Tarrant County Civil Engineering Department in 1956. He retired from the county in 1995 after having put in 39 years of dedicated service.

He cherished the small, rural community of Webb, where he lived on his farm, raised cattle and socialized with his many friends on a daily basis.

Charles was a quiet believer in God. He stated many times over the years that he was at inner peace with his Creator.

Survivors: Son, Marc S. English and wife, Lee Ann; granddaughter, Meigan Elise English; brothers, Robert Harold English and Roy E. English; sisters, Frances Louise Patterson and Rosa Lee Dorsey; and many beloved cousins and extended-family members.

Dear Uncle Charlie,

I can't find the words to say just how much I'm going to miss you. I'm going to miss our talks and most of all I'm going to miss that little grin of yours and that twinkle in your eyes when you would tease all of your nieces and nephews. We love you so much.

Dear Steven,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Loosing Uncle Charlie is a loss for us all. He was a great man and loved by so many people. He is definately a Father to be proud of. He loved his family and I know he was so proud of you. Every time I went to see him he was always bragging about you, Leanne and his precious granddaughter, Meighan.

Please know that we love you so much and if there is anything at all that we can do for you, all you have to do is call.

Love always,
Teresa Schmidt
