Dr. Charles Douglas Marable passed suddenly Friday, May 16, 2014.
Charles was born to Harry and Mae Marable in Houston on Dec. 8, 1946. Charles graduated from UT Pharmacy School, then UAG medical school in Mexico and practiced neurology in Fort Worth. He loved cars and baseball, and collecting coins and guns.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe.) -- 2 Timothy: 4:7
Those who preceded him are his parents, Harry and Mae Marable; uncles, Harry Massey, Percy Massey, Lorraine Massey and Elmer Gray; and aunt, Virgie Gray.
Survivors: Beloved wife, Mirsa Marable; stepchildren, Santiago Romero, Alan Wilson, Denise Doran; granddaughters, Kinzie and Zoe Wilson, Brooke, Morgan and Kendall Doran; aunts, Bonnie Massey Cook and Sybil Massey; and a host of cousins.

I was fortunate to have attended a lecture as a Physician Assistant student in 1981 by Dr. Marable. I just recently came across the notes he gave out at that lecture and was reminded how many times I referred to those lucid and logical fundamentals of a good Neurological work-up.
I retired last year and due to moving soon, I re-found them and looked him up on the internet. I am saddened to hear of his passing but rest assured somewhere he is giving a student the best of his knowledge and for that we can all take heart!

What a great man you were, such a tragedy that you passes suddenly. More of a tragedy that I had no idea until today. You were a brilliant physician and I was always amazed at how you would go to extreme depths to figure out patients illnesses after they had been to numerous others who were puzzled. You truly cared about your patients and your employees, there is no one who compares. Thank you for being such a great boss but more importantly such a great man. Rest in peace, Doc. Thank you

I just find out today the sad news. I could not believe my Neurologist of over 8 years left us to be with God. He refused to prescribe me generic seizure pills and he took the time to get to know his patients. He looked so good last time I saw him 6 months ago!! It was about time for me to schedule my next appointment when I received the letter in the mail. My condolences to his family and his patients. He is now doing the will of God in heaven. You will be missed here on earth.

Dr. Marable was the best other doctors told me I'd have to live with having a headache daily. I went to him and within a month I stopped having headaches. I'm sorry for your loss. He was a great Dr. that spent time getting to know his patients

It is a sad time for me for Dr Marable was a good Dr. who took my complaints and the time to follow through with them he has helped me get surgery on my back where I was so happy to find a real Dr. who gave to his patients He help me with my partial seizers that come as I would fall asleep .and got the wright med for me. and finally we both were injured by the generic Plavixs we both got blood clots from it he took the time to do a DNA test for my drugs in my system and now I can have the ones that work for me and he shared his life small little bits with me He was a very special DR. and Human being I will miss him a lot

I just went to my dr appoitment today to find a note on the door saying that he had passed away. I'm feel so lost with out Dr. Charles Marable. It saddens my heart so. Today I learned of Dr. Marable's sudden passing. I was a patient of Dr. Marable since 1991. He was always so caring and compassionate. I could always count on a smile and a hug. The world has lost a first class doctor; irreplaceable and unique. A first class gentleman. He cared about each and every patient. God definitely acquired a wonderful angel. Dr Marable was a Gentleman. I saw him as his client a few years ago. The first question he asked was if I was a Nursing Supervisor at St Joseph Hospital. I said that I had been. He said I had helped him on a few occasions and wanted to know how he could now help me. A kind gesture that was most helpful. He will be missed. My prayers for his family.

Dr Marable was one of my customers in the late 90's. I always enjoyed stopping by his office to visit with him as he always had a way to make people laugh. I haven't talked to Dr.Marable since 2001 but I've certainly thought of him frequently. My prayers go to him, his family and office staff.

My heart is so saddened by Dr. Marable's passing. He was one of the most intelligent, compassionate, patient-driven doctors there ever was. I was referred to him by dear friend whose life he saved from the fallout of a TBI. During a visit, while discussing my physical struggle with heavy housework, he asked about help from my husband and I mentioned his recent work injury that he was not well. Of course he asked what happened, and when I told him my husband experienced a toxic gas inhalation, he started listing off a bunch of symptoms to which I said, yes, yes, yes….tears in my eyes, finally, after months, someone gets it, someone understands this! Dr. Marable told me my husband needs a neurologist and right then offered to be my husband's doctor. He took on my husband's care, knowing there would be a huge fight with workers comp; but he was doing everything possible to help my husband both as a doctor, advocate and champion.

My heartfelt prayers go out to his family, his work family: Veronica, Karina and Esperanza; his friends, his patients, and to the Fort Worth area who has lost a brilliant, analytical doctor who always put his patient's well being first.

He is irreplaceable here on earth, but our Lord called him home. He will be remembered by so many.
