Clarence Lloyd Carlson

1930 - 2015

With family gathered together, Clarence Carlson, 85, lost his brief battle with lung cancer and peacefully entered into God's kingdom on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Hurst. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Private family graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. in Henrietta. Clarence was born and raised in Mobridge, S.D. He served the USAF in 1950-1954 at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls where he met his beloved wife Fadyne of nearly 60 years. He graduated from Midwestern University. In 1964 he relocated to Fort Worth to become VP of a life insurance company. He retired at age 53 and pursued his passion of buying and selling antiques. He and Fadyne opened The Antique Homestead Mall where they worked for over 20 years together. Clarence was a faithful servant to God and raised his family in the Lutheran church. He loved playing cards and dominoes with family, his church group, and his many friends at the Hurst Senior Center. He also enjoyed daily exercise at the gym, followed by chats with his coffee and donut buddies. His family will miss his sweet loving nature, the way he cherished our beloved MeMe, his funny sayings and hearty laugh, his coupon clipping, and his fabulous chocolate chip cookies! Clarence was a good man of honor and integrity, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was loved by many who will carry his memory in their hearts for years to come. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fadyne, and children, Alan, Bruce and Sherri Tomberlin. Survivors: Daughter, Alana Keeton and husband, Kem; granddaughters, Christi Boland and husband, Shawn, Melissa Carlson, Jessica Tomberlin, Britney Gendren and husband, Kevin; great-grandaughters, Carsen Shatto, Cameron Shatto, Colby Boland and Audrey Carlson; son-in-law, David Tomberlin; daughter-in-law, Carylon Pierce Carlson.
