Clark Hawk Obituary

Clark Clarence Hawk (1948-2025)

Dr. Clark Hawk, cherished community dentist, passed away on Sept. 11, 2025, at his home in Lehighton at the age of 77.

The fifth of eight children of Grace (Deihl) and Champ Hawk, he was born on Feb. 7, 1948, at their family home on Bridge Street in Lehighton.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Pamala (Graver) Hawk, the COO of his life; his children, Kristin, Steven and Nathan; and his daughters-in-law, Kim and Skye. After the birth of his grandchildren, Nick, Bodie, Anna and Daniel, his name affectionately changed to "Pap."

His siblings include Kenny Hawk, Jerry Hawk (deceased), Stanley Hawk, Janice Rehrig (deceased), David Hawk, Donna Walk and Kim Werley.

Clark graduated from Lehighton High School in 1966. He enjoyed football, wrestling and track and field. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Temple University, followed by serving in the U.S. Air Force as a dentist.

He returned to Lehighton in 1975 and started a 43-year dental practice on South Third Street in Lehighton. He cared deeply for his patients and testimony would suggest he was beloved by many of them in return.

Clark was active in the community. He was a proud member of the Lehighton Lions, a two-term Lehighton school board member, treasurer of the Panther Valley Dental Society and senior knee-high booster club football coach.

Pap was passionate about sports and leisure activities that end with cocktails. He was a dedicated runner in his younger days, competing in many 10Ks, marathons and a triathlon. He loved playing tennis and was an original member of the Maple Tree Tennis Club. Like a good boomer, he also embraced pickleball. His volleyball net was set up in the yard every year for weekly Tuesday night games.

His yard was his pride and joy, often described as eclectic, it produced lots of cut flowers for Pam to decorate their home. Indoors, he was known as the orchid whisperer, where he enjoyed tending to his collection.

Up to his final days Clark was always up for a party. He loved getting together with friends and rounding out the weekend with family Sunday night dinner. Clark enjoyed vacationing with friends and family in the Outer Banks, as well as his many Caribbean and European trips with their travel crew. Clark will be missed by many.

Service: We will be celebrating his life with a visitation on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 1-3 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, 300 Alum St., Lehighton. Schaeffer Funeral Home, Lehighton, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be made at schaefferfunerals.com.
